Nigeria raises $500 million to support its agriculture sector

The government of Nigeria has raised more than $500 million to improve food production in the continent’s most populated country.

Vice President Kashim Shettima said in a statement on Tuesday that the monies come from a variety of sources, including multilateral development banks and global financial institutions. The funds will be used for “innovation finance for the food sector transformation, development of Nigeria’s agro value chain, and specialized agro-industrial processing zones programmes,” stated by him.
