Livestock and Fisheries Production

Livestock farming is an important agricultural activity in Nasarawa, with cattle, poultry, goats, and sheep widely raised. Fisheries production is also expanding, contributing significantly to food supply and income generation in rural communities.

Agricultural Development & Government Initiatives

The Nasarawa State Government has intensified efforts to expand food production and improve farmer productivity through large-scale agricultural projects.

Rice cultivation expansion at Jangwa/Agwatashi Farm has grown significantly from 2,000 hectares to over 3,300 hectares. These initiatives aim to improve food self-sufficiency, empower farmers, and attract private sector investment in processing and marketing.

Climate-smart agriculture, mechanisation partnerships with organisations such as Hello Tractor, and distribution of improved farm inputs including fertilisers, seeds, and tractors are strengthening smallholder productivity and rural livelihoods.
